Paddling to Cathedral Cove

When we got the kayaks down to Hahei beach some other kayakers were watching us to see what we'd do, to make their own minds up whether or not to try because the waves were quite big. Pete told me they came in 3's so after a 3rd big one he pushed me off - straight into the path of the biggest wave ever! It crashed over me drenching me, but I paddled really hard (afraid of embarrassing myself by falling off) and got through them. Not so easy for Pete who was flipped :-) The current was side on all the way making it hard work and every now and then a water taxi would whiz past, almost knocking me off. It took AGES to sight Cathedral Cove.
