Kauri Trees & Butterflies

One day we went past the giant Kauri trees, estimated at around 800-1,000 yrs old! Sadly not many are left as the early settlers (Mauri & European) cut many down for masts/boats or simply burnt the forest for land. A wonderful thing to see making you really feel small! Then we went to what was advertised as the Butterfly Farm – hmm – more like a garage full of half worn-out ugly moths! OK so I wasn’t overly impressed but Adam did enjoy himself :-)
